Gerald Leo Hawes, 79, of Wexford, Allamakee County died Tuesday, April 22, 2014 at Thornton Manor in Lansing. Mass of Christian Burial was held Friday, April 25 at Wexford-Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Burial followed at Wexford-Immaculate Conception Catholic Cemetery with military rites.
Gerald was born August 7, 1934 in Wexford to John and Ellen (Conway) Hawes. He graduated from Immaculate Conception High School in Lansing. Following high school, Gerald served his country honorably in the United States Army from February 5, 1957 to January 22, 1959.

Fredrick “Freddie” Alois Scheidel, 85, of Ossian died Monday, April 28, 2014 at Ossian Senior Hospice in Ossian. Mass of Christian Burial was held Saturday, May 3 at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, Ossian, with Msgr. Cletus Hawes as the Celebrant. Burial followed at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Cemetery, Ossian.
Fred was born March 31, 1929 to Fred J. and Jeanette (Luzum) Scheidel. He was baptized and confirmed in his faith at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church and attended St. Francis de Sales Catholic School and graduated from Ossian Public High School in 1947.

Joseph B. Becker, 84, of rural Lansing was surrounded by his loving family when he died Wednesday, April 30, 2014 at his home, not 50 feet from where he was born August 6, 1929 to John H. and Mary (Hammell) Becker.
Mass of Christian Burial was held Monday, May 5 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Lansing, with Rev. John Moser as the Celebrant. Burial followed at Gethsemane Cemetery, Lansing.
Joseph attended country school in Churchtown for a time and graduated from Immaculate Conception High School in Lansing.

Roger D. Vickery, 72, of Waukon died Sunday, April 20, 2014 at Hospice Care Center in Lexington, KY. Funeral services were held Saturday, April 26 at Forest Mills United Methodist Church in rural Postville with Rev. Richard Iles officiating. Burial was at Oakland Cemetery, Waukon.
Roger Donald Vickery was born April 24, 1941 on the Ewing home farm in the Forest Mills area in rural Waukon, the son of Donald and Ruth (Ewing) Vickery. His father, Donald, died in a farm accident when Roger was two years old. Ruth married Keith Bloxham and Keith raised him as his son.

Dorothy Hinman, 84, of Monona died April 26, 2014. A vigil service will be held at 10 a.m. with a funeral service to follow at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 1 at Garden City United Methodist Church, Monona.

Helen Lane, formerly of Waukon, died October 26, 2013 in Weeki Wachee, FL. Graveside services will be held Thursday, May 1 at 10 a.m. at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Waukon.

Helen Bergan, 87, died Sunday, April 27, 2014 at the Good Samaritan Center in Waukon. A Memorial Service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 1 at Decorah Lutheran Church in Decorah, with Pastors Dave Sorenson and Bryon Robertson officiating. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Thursday, May 1, one hour before services at the church. Private family burial will be held at a later time at the Lutheran Cemetery in Decorah. The Fjelstul Funeral Home of Decorah is in charge of arrangements.

Roy A. Wandling, 86, of Waukon died Saturday, April 19, 2014 at Northgate Care Center in Waukon. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, April 23 at 11 a.m. at St. John's Lutheran Church in Waukon, with Rev. Lynn G. Groe officiating. Burial with military rites will be at Oakland Cemetery, Waukon.
Friends may call from 4-7 p.m. Tuesday, April 22 at Martin Funeral Home in Waukon, and one hour before the service Wednesday, April 23 at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. John’s Lutheran Church and Northgate Care Center.

Mary Ellen Severson, 89, of Lansing died Friday, April 18, 2014 at Thornton Manor in Lansing. Memorial Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 23 at the Thornburg-Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Lansing. Burial will be held at a later date. Visitation will take place Wednesday, April 23 from 10-11 a.m. at the Thornburg-Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Lansing.
Mary was born February 25, 1925 to William and Rose (Thompson) Severson in Lansing. She spent her childhood in Lansing and graduated in the class of 1942 in the Lansing Public School.
