Janice Olsen, born Janice Eileen Sherman, age 68, passed away March 28, 2014 at her home with her family by her side in Laguna Hills, CA after a long battle with multiple myeloma. A memorial service will be held at Zion United Church of Christ in Waukon Sunday, April 27 at 3 p.m. with visitation an hour before services.
Janice was born April 20, 1945 in Waukon to Paul and LaGertha Sherman. She grew up on their family farm and was the eldest of six children.

Carl W. Dresselhaus, age 97, of Davenport died Saturday, April 5, 2014 at Select Specialty Hospital, Davenport. Services in celebration of his life will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, April 11 at St. John’s United Methodist Church, 14th and Brady Streets in Davenport, with the Rev. Anne Lippincott officiating. Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m. Thursday, April 10 at Weerts Funeral Home, Kimberly at Jersey Ridge Rd., Davenport. Burial will be in Oakdale Memorial Gardens, Davenport.

William John Pillath, age 49, of DeSoto, WI died unexpectedly Tuesday, April 1, 2014 at his home. Funeral services were held Friday, April 4 at the Vosseteig-Larson Funeral Home in DeSoto, WI.

Curtiss R. Klepper, 82, of Frankville died Tuesday, April 1, 2014 at his daughter's home in Postville. Funeral services were held Sunday, April 6 at Frankville Presbyterian Church in Frankville, with Rev. Gary Catterson officiating. Burial was at Frankville Cemetery.

Clark R. Larson, 69, of Allentown, PA, formerly of Waukon, died Monday, March 31, 2014 at St. Luke's Hospice in Allentown, PA. Funeral services were held locally Saturday, April 5 at Glenwood Lutheran Church in rural Decorah, with Pastor Stacey Nalean-Carlson officiating. Burial was at Glenwood East Cemetery.
Services were also held Thursday, April 3 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Emmaus, PA. Martin Funeral Home of Waukon is handling local arrangements. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Luke’s Hospice, 2455 Black River Road, Bethlehem, PA 18105.

Sam Bacon, 56, of Postville died Friday, March 28, 2014. Funeral Services were held Friday, April 4 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Postville, with Rev. Gary Catterson as the Officiant. Inurnment will be held at a later date.
Sam was born May 18, 1957 to Bud and Bev (Nelson) Bacon in Postville. He graduated from Postville High School in 1975 and attended college at Northeast Iowa Area Community College (NIACC) in Mason City and Upper Iowa University in Fayette.

Evelyn M. Gilson, 89, of Waukon died Monday, March 31, 2014 at Veterans Memorial Hospital in Waukon. Funeral services were held Friday, April 4 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Waukon, with Rev. Lynn G. Groe officiating. Burial was at Oakland Cemetery, Waukon.
Evelyn Marcella Gilson was born May 13, 1924 on her parents’ farm in rural Waukon, the daughter of Charles and Lydia (Saewart) Johnson. She was baptized at the Congregational Church in Churchtown and attended Lycurgus rural schools. She was later confirmed at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Waukon.

Hubert Ira Moose, 79, passed away in the care of his family and in the comfort of his daughter's home in McGregor Wednesday, March 26, 2014. In honor of his last request, no memorial services will be held.
Hubert was born July 16, 1934. He farmed many years and raised a family of five children north of Garnavillo. Hubert left the farm in 2002 and had made his home near Waukon.

Mary Josephine Barnes, 97, a resident of Rock Ridge Care Center in Shellsburg, died there Wednesday, March 26, 2014. Funeral Mass will be held at All Saints Catholic Church in Cedar Rapids Friday, April 4 at 10:30 a.m., officiated by Father Jack Flaherty. The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service at the Church. Interment will be held at a later date at St. Francis of Assisi Columbarium in Fairfield Glade, TN.

Donald L. Welper, 82, of Waukon died Saturday, March 29, 2014 at Northgate Care Center in Waukon. Memorial services will be held Wednesday, April 2 at 11 a.m. at Martin Funeral Home in Waukon, with Rev. Lynn G. Groe officiating. Inurnment will be held at a later date. Friends may call from 9:30 a.m. until time of services Wednesday, April 2 at the funeral home.
