Mentoring program seeks community support

Helping Services for Northeast Iowa's Mentoring Program has a new goal for its upcoming BIG Bowl-A-Thon fundraiser taking place at Oneota Lanes in Decorah March 22. The program is seeking donations from individuals, businesses and community groups with the goal of raising $13,000 to support the mission of the program.

Waukon football's new triple threat: Senior trio signs talents on with Division I programs

Even though the 2013 Iowa High School football season is over, history continues to be made by members of this past season’s Waukon football team. Having already played to historical measures this past fall on the high school gridiron, not one but three of this year’s senior team members have now penned their names to letters of intent to continue their playing careers with NCAA Division I football programs - the most Division I commitments ever in the history of the program.

Patti Ruff announces re-election bid for Iowa House of Representatives

State Representative Patti Ruff of McGregor announced Monday, February 3 that she will seek re-election to the Iowa House of Representatives in House District 56, which includes Allamakee and Clayton counties.
“Last session, we made great progress building Iowa’s skilled workforce, expanding access to affordable health care, and lowering property taxes for our local businesses,” said Ruff. “I’ll keep working hard to listen to the people of my district and keep focused on the issues important to them.”
